A very popular series of inserts among (former) children and which was very dear to me when I was in my school years. I remember that for a long time I tried to find out what the words “Hayat tehlikede” (which are present on some of the inserts) mean. That time I asked everyone about this, hoping to find someone who knows a little Turkish. I imagined that these animals were some how special and that the two words said exactly that. At one point I asked an acquaintance of my father, who brought various goods from Turkey, to take with him an insert with Panda Bear and to ask someone what it says.

I waited anxiously until the man returned from Turkey, but his answer saddened me: in Turkish, “Hayat tehlikede” means “endangered”…
